As the Chinese Lunar New Year, Year of the Ox, is approaching, I wish to，on behalf of Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane, extend our festival greetings to you all. I would also like to extend our best wishes to all those who care about and support China-Australia and China-Queensland friendship.
2020年是极不平凡的一年。面对突如其来的新冠肺炎疫情和日趋复杂的外部环境，在中国共产党的坚强领导下，中国人民用众志成城、坚忍不拔书写了抗疫史诗，展示了伟大的抗疫精神。中国率先控制疫情，率先恢复生产生活，消费稳步复苏，民生持续改善，科技发展取得重大突破。国内生产总值迈上百万亿元新台阶，成为全球唯一实现经济正增长的主要经济体。
2020 has been a most extraordinary year. In the face of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic and the increasingly complex external environment, the Chinese people, under the strong leadership of the CPC, have written the epic of fighting the epidemic with great spirit of unity and perseverance. China took the lead in controlling the epidemic and resuming production and daily life. Chinese consumption has recovered steadily, people's livelihood has continued to improve, and major breakthroughs have been made in technological development. China’s GDP has reached a new level of one hundred trillion RMB, becoming the only major economy in the world that has achieved positive economic growth.
2020年，中国全面建成小康社会取得历史性成就，决战脱贫攻坚取得决定性胜利。中国如期完成了新时代脱贫攻坚目标任务，历史性地解决了困扰中华民族几千年的绝对贫困问题，提前10年完成联合国2030年减贫目标，对世界减贫事业贡献率高达70%，创造了世界减贫史上的“中国奇迹”。
In 2020, China has made historic achievements in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and achieved decisive victory in the battle against poverty. China has completed the task of poverty alleviation in the new era as scheduled, historically solved the absolute poverty problem that has plagued the Chinese nation for thousands of years, completed the United Nations 2030 poverty reduction goal 10 years ahead of schedule, and has contributed up to 70% of the world’s poverty reduction. All these forged a "Chinese miracle" in the human history of poverty reduction.
2020年，中国改革开放全面提速，合作共赢打开新局面。我们出台海南自由贸易港建设总体方案，推出深圳和浦东改革开放系列举措，成功举办中国国际服务贸易交易会、第三届进博会，签署区域全面经济伙伴关系协定，完成中欧投资协定谈判，推动高质量共建“一带一路”，为世界经济注入了动力和信心。
In 2020, China's reform and opening up accelerated in an all-round way, and win-win cooperation broke new ground. We introduced the overall plan for the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, launched a series of reforms and opening-up measures in Shenzhen and Pudong, successfully hosted the China International Fair for Trade in Services, the third China International Import Expo (CIIE), signed Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreement(RCEP), completed the China-EU investment agreement negotiations, promoted high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road". All of these have injected impetus and confidence for the recovery of world economy.
2020年，中国与各国人民的命运紧密相连、休戚与共。中国本着公开、透明、科学、负责的态度，最早向世界报告疫情，第一时间发布病毒基因序列等关键信息。同世卫组织和国际社会密切合作，开展了史上最大规模的紧急人道主义行动，向150多个国家、13个国际组织提供援助，共同汇聚起全球抗疫的磅礴伟力。
In 2020, the destinies of China and the people of other countries are closely linked, and we share weal and woe. In the spirit of being open, transparent, scientific, and responsible, China was the first to report the epidemic to the world, and released key information such as virus gene sequences as early as possible. In close cooperation with the WHO and the international community, China has carried out the largest emergency humanitarian operation in history, provided assistance to more than 150 countries and 13 international organizations, and jointly gathered the mighty power of the globe to fight against the pandemic.
2021年对中国将是极其重要的一年。我们将隆重庆祝中国共产党成立100周年，全面实施“十四五”规划，开启全面建设社会主义现代化国家新征程。加快构建以国内大循环为主体、国内国际双循环相互促进的新发展格局。中国将继续同各国守望相助，争取早日获得抗疫胜利，继续同各国并肩合作，促进全球经济恢复发展，继续同各国人民一道，推动构建人类命运共同体。
2021 will be an extremely important year for China. We will solemnly celebrate the centenary of the Communist Party of China, fully implement the 14th Five-Year Plan, and start a new journey toward building a modern socialist country in an all-round way. As China enters a new development stage, we will accelerate the construction of a new development pattern with domestic circulation as the mainstay and the domestic and international circulation reinforcing each other. China will continue to work with other countries for an early victory in the fight against the pandemic, to promote global economic recovery and development and to advance the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
中国和澳大利亚同为亚太地区重要国家，一个健康稳定的中澳关系，符合两国和两国人民的根本利益，也有利于地区繁荣稳定。希望澳方与中方相向而行，本着互信互利的精神，共同推动中澳关系沿着正确的轨道向前发展。
China and Australia are both major countries in the Asia-Pacific region. A healthy and stable China-Australia relationship conforms to the fundamental interests of the two countries and our peoples, and is also conducive to regional prosperity and stability. It is hoped that Australia and China will, in the spirit of mutual trust and mutual benefit, meet each other halfway and jointly promote the development of China-Australia relations on the right track.
中国与昆士兰州的关系是中澳关系的重要组成部分。在双方共同努力下，中昆关系保持健康稳定发展。中国继续保持为昆州第一大贸易伙伴，2019-2020财年，昆州对华出口占昆州出口总额的36.1%。疫情以来中昆相互同情、彼此支持，积极开展抗疫合作。双方都高度重视发展友好关系，对继续深化务实合作充满期待。
The relationship between China and Queensland is an important part of China-Australia relations. With the joint efforts of both sides, China-Queensland relations have maintained healthy and stable development. China remains Queensland’s largest trading partner. In the 2019-2020 fiscal year, Queensland’s exports to China accounted for 36.1% of Queensland’s total exports. Since the outbreak of pandemic, China and Queensland have sympathized with and supported each other and actively carried out cooperation in pandemic prevention. Both sides attach great importance to the development of friendly relations and are full of expectations for continued deepening of practical cooperation.
在昆华侨华人为澳大利亚、昆士兰州经济社会发展和多元文化建设做出了积极贡献，是中澳、中昆友好交流的重要桥梁和纽带。祖国和人民不会忘记，在国内抗疫最艰难的时候，广大在昆侨胞、中资机构和留学人员给予的支持和援助。昆州爆发疫情后，大家风雨同舟，积极参与和支持当地抗疫，展现了华社良好风貌。
Overseas Chinese in Queensland have made positive contributions to the economic, social and multicultural development of Australia and Queensland, and they are an important bridge and link for friendly exchanges between China and Australia, and China and Queensland. We will never forget the support and assistance provided by the vast numbers of overseas Chinese, Chinese-funded institutions and Chinese students in Queensland during the most difficult time of fighting against the pandemic. After the outbreak in Queensland, everyone stood together through thick and thin, actively participated in and supported the local fight against the pandemic, demonstrating the good character of the Chinese community.
疫情尚未结束，抗疫仍在继续，希望在昆侨胞继续做好疫情防控，继续为促进中澳、中昆友好发挥积极作用。新的一年，总领馆将继续坚持以人民为中心，竭诚为大家服好务,与大家风雨同舟、共克时艰。
The pandemic is not over yet, and the fight against the pandemic continues. I believe that the overseas Chinese in Queensland will continue to do a good job in the prevention and control of the pandemic, and to play a positive role in promoting the development of China-Australia and China-Queensland relations. In the new year, the Consulate General will adhere to the people-centered approach, strive to provide a better service, and work with all of you to overcome the difficulties of the time.
